Depression Counseling Specialties~

Situational Depression: Triggered by a significant life event such as politics, feeling stuck, job loss, divorce, or trauma.

Major Depressive Disorder: Persistent feelings of sadness, hopelessness, and loss of interest in daily activities for at least two weeks.

Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD): Occurs in seasonal patterns, usually during fall and winter when sunlight exposure is reduced. Linked to disruptions in circadian rhythms and lower serotonin/melatonin levels.

Atypical Depression: Appetite changes, excessive sleep, heaviness in arms and legs, and sensitivity to rejection. Unlike typical depression, mood temporarily improves in response to positive events.
